Remembrance Day

Remembrance Day is traditionally a memorial day observed in Commonwealth member states since the end of the First World War to remember the members of their armed forces who have died in the line of duty. During the Second World War, many countries changed the name of the holiday. Member states of the Commonwealth of Nations adopted Remembrance Day, while the USA chose Veterans Day.

This is the day when we remember the incredible sacrifices made by soldiers in the armed forces as well as those who serve in any uniformed role.

The analogies between war, sacrifice and heroism are many when reading through the bible, and so it resonates a particularly poignant chord in our hearts. In the bible Jesus Christ is referred to as the ‘Lord of Hosts’, which in essence, is the General of the army. He leads a victorious band of followers who not only are willing to make sacrifices, but more importantly, obey His every command.

As we remember all those who have served their country selflessly, we also remember the ‘bigger picture’. While we remember the countless battles fought at home and abroad, we also remember the intense spiritual battles that are fought over the souls of men and woman all over the world.

Thank you to all veterans, and thank you to all who labor in the forces of heaven.
